Magazine Covers You Won’t See at Walmart!

It’s one of the most talked about lists in the magazine industry and Folio’s Dylan Stableford reveals the magazines taken off Walmart’s shelves on his Folio blog.  Click here and hopefully your mag didn’t make the list!

Attention Frat Boys:

Breaking Boob News:  Girls Gone Wild Magazine to Hit Newstands — Can’t get enough of your Girls Gone Wild videos?  A new bi-monthly with the same title will be launching April 15th according to Nat Ives at AdAge.  (Advertising Age)

Oh No! Janice Min is Gonna Be Really Pissed!

Not only does she have to deal with promoting her company’s sister publication, Rolling Stone, as we reported yesterday!  Today, People hits newsstands with a Britney cover of its own.

Either way, both covers are already DATED!   We all know Britney is back home so these issues both feel old.

My call for this week definitely goes to People Magazine.   The People picture of Britney is much stronger.   It looks like it was taken inside the hospital and is haunting.  Plus, strong insets for People!  Every girl loves to read and see exclusive wedding pics.    The Marie Osmond weight loss inset falls short because they do not show a before picture???  Big mistake!

Vanity Fair Says Yes to Hollywood Issue

But No to Oscar Party

As the new issue of Vanity Fair hits newsstands, the bigger news is that EIC Graydon Carter cancelled this year’s Vanity Fair Oscar Party, according to the New York Times.

“A magazine like Vanity Fair is a group of writers and artists, and we are in solidarity with the writers and artists out there,” Mr. Carter said. “Whether the strike is over or not, there are a lot of bruised feelings. I don’t think it’s appropriate for a big magazine from the East to come in and pretend nothing happened.”

Why Mitt Romney Quit AND SAID WHAT HE SAID!

Time Magazine claimed recently that Mitt Romney “Looks Like a President” but that certainly wasn’t enough to make it to the finish line.   Romney drops out of the campaign and now we’re down to three frontrunners (1 Republican, 2 Democrats).   So why did he drop out?

In one of the most shocking statements made from a candidate leaving the race, Romney said, “Frankly, in this time of war, I simply cannot let my campaign be a part of aiding the surrender to terror.”

Is he for real?   He’s suggesting that if the Republicans don’t win, the Democratic contenders will throw up the white flag to terrorists.   No matter who you support, this is a ridiculous statement and a classless way to exit the race.
