Yes! Scientific American MIND! (I couldn’t believe it myself!)

While the photo is riveting, the line on this cover leaves me hanging! I would have suggested placing some actual reasons underneath the main head instead of the vague dek. On the magazine’s web site, there are three rivetting theories on WHY WE KISS. Check them out after the jump!
A kiss triggers a cascade of neural messages and chemicals that transmit tactile sensations, sexual excitement, feelings of closeness, motivation and even euphoria. (DUH!)
Kisses can convey important information about the status and future of a relationship. At the extreme, a bad first kiss can abruptly curtail a couple’s future. (This reminds me of that Sex and the City Episode where Charlotte gets kissed all over her face!)
Kissing may have evolved from primate mothers’ practice of chewing food for their young and then feeding them mouth-to-mouth. Some scientists theorize that kissing is crucial to the evolutionary process of mate selection. (This theory really grossed me out!)
