An industry insider tell us that a release sent out by CBS today, titled “The Early Show Post Increases In Key News Demographics and Total Viewers for the Week of March 17,” is missing one key point.
CBS ”forced some of its local stations to drop their local newscasts for the revamped CBS Early Show. By virtue of that (move), more viewers had to watch the CBS Early Show,” says the tipster. Now that’s one way to boost ratings.

“THE EARLY SHOW” POSTS INCREASES IN KEY NEWS DEMOGRAPHICS AND TOTAL VIEWERS FOR THE WEEK OF MARCH 17
For the week of March 17, THE EARLY SHOW (2.1/7, 2.72m) posted gains in key news demographics: up +22% in adults 25-54 and up +11% in women 18-49 compared to the same week last year. THE EARLY SHOW also increased +2% in total viewers, compared to last year.
