From Beyonce undoing her half-updo herself to the intimate 40 person guest list to the wedding dress, there are a ton of details! In fact, there was even a giant white tent erected inside Jay-Z’s apartment with 60,000 white orchids flown in from Thailand. (Wow! That is one huge apartment! The only tent I can fit in my apartment is the one I slept in the backyard as a kid. Ok, I never made it through the full evening but you get the point.)
The first dance? Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September.” The cake seemed like it was “5-foot-8.”
You even find out how everyone got ready for the wedding! “At 8:30 a.m., the the music mogul’s (Jay-Z) mother, sister, grandmother and niece had their hair styled at Devachan salon in NYC’s SoHo. Later that afternoon, Beyonce’s assistant picked up last-minute essentials at Duane Reade pharmacy and Bloomingdale’s.
While Us was unable to secure photos of the wedding itself, the reporting does a great job of making me feel like I was at the wedding! This is obviously a magazine with a strong reporting team and one that doesn’t SKIMP on resources.
