IS THE CELEBRITY MEDIA RACIST ASKS THE NY DAILY NEWS?

Today’s NY Daily news reported that only ONE tabloid covered Beyoncé’s wedding on the cover and asks, “Are the celebrity media racist?”

A tabloid editor tells Ben Widdicombe that Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s wedding was played down by the weeklies because “African-Americans don’t sell covers.” (THIS IS A RIDICULOUS STATEMENT!)

According to the NY Daily News, “Of the big five celebrity glossies out midweek, only Us Weekly gave Beyoncé the top spot on the cover.”

Does People Magazine fall out of the celebrity weekly mix?  (We posted People’s cover yesterday!  Not sure how this was missed.  I guess People forgot to let Ben know its cover!  If the NY Daily News knew that Beyonce was on two covers, would this even be a story?)

“None of the magazines landed an exclusive on wedding pictures, which would have made the story bigger,” said one tabloid insider, justifying why Beyoncé was relegated to a small cover box on his magazine.   (Of course the story would have been bigger with photos.  Duh!  BTW - since People & US Weekly covered Beyonce on the cover, it doesn’t take much to figure out who this insider is!)

But Us Weekly editor in chief Janice Min tells the Daily News,  ”Janet Jackson has been on our cover twice, for two of our best-selling issues we’ve ever had.”  (Note: The first time Janice was on vacation when this happened but as usual Janice creates her own revisionist history.)

Min “acknowledges there is a perception in her industry that black stars don’t sell covers,” but adds: “Typically, you will hear that discussion among a group of all-white editors.”   (Wow!  Who is Janice hanging around with?)

I think the bigger question is “Where’s Jay-Z?”  He didn’t make either cover.  And on People, the mag inset upcoming weddings and included the couples on the inset!

That is so ridiculous. Parker, the basketball player and Eva had more coverage about their wedding. Instead of claiming racism, why don’t they write about how to help this country.

Today people may come up with such thoughts that others may feel it weird, so its better not to take much seriously. These days media is just another drama creator, at least here in our country they are like that only.
