WHY DID US WEEKLY RELEASE ASHLEE'S PREGNANCY NEWS?

According to Us Magazine’s web site, Ashlee Simpson is pregnant.

What’s strange is that Us and the other weeklies are closing their issues tonight and Us Weekly might have had this exclusively.

Instead they decided to release the news on their web site.   This goes to show you how important it is for the weeklies to draw traffic to their web sites.  

I believe this would have been a strong cover for Us but now that everybody knows, it’s no more than an inset.
