Pasetsky’s Cover Critique 

The May issue of People Stylewatch features Katherine Heigl.

Why?  I’m not sure because it simply says her name.  

Across Katherine is a very tabloid looking banner that screams “100 Beauty Secrets — Expert Tips that Will Change Your Life.”  Wow!  That’s a pretty lofty promise!

100 is a popular number on this cover.  There are also great buys under $100!  That will definitely make middle-America pick up this issue.  Umm, not really.  Not in today’s economic environment.  That line was written by an savvy out-of-touch NYC editor.

Then there’s the 62 Sexy Styles button.  What does that mean?  What type of style?  It feels so random.

At the top of the cover, it says SPECIAL ISSUE.  For the life of me, I can’t figure out why it’s so special???  Can you?

I’m totally bored by this cover.

On another note, this magazine must continue to piss off the editors at sister-publication InStyle.   Don’t ya think?
