IS REV. JEREMIAH WRIGHT TRYING TO DESTROY BARACK OBAMA?

In case you missed it, here are some of the quotes from Rev. Wrights appearance yesterday:

  • Wright called Farrakhan “one of the most important voices of the 20th and 21st century.”
  • “You cannot do terrorism on other people and expect it to never come back to you,” Wright said, mentioning the US nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War II.
  • “We both know that if Sen. Obama did not say what he said, he would never get elected,” Wright said. “He had to distance himself, because he’s a politician, from what the media was saying I had said, which was anti-American,” the pastor said.  “Politicians say what they say and do what they do based on electability, based on sound bites, based on polls,” Wright said.

unfortunately for obama, it is very hard to make the case that neither he nor his wife had any idea that their pastor harbored such anger coupled with so many ideas contrary to those held by the mainstream, when in just a very short time, far less than 20 years, most people hearing or reading about any of wright’s comments, are immediately aware of his arrogance, sarcasm, and manipulative innuendo designed primarily to ignite and divide his listeners from anyone who disagrees with him and them by inference.

Rev. Wright has the right to say what he desires. I think the 5th amendment gurantees the right of free speech. If Obama did not say it, why attribute it to Obama? Just like Jimmy Carter had Billy and Nixon his brother, Obama has Rev. Wright.

I must take it back. he does not have Rev. Wright.

Many people who are not exposed to Liberation Theology are upset with Rev. Wright. His role as a minister/prophet says that he must disturb those who are comfortable and to comfort the disturbed. Jeremiah, the Old Testament prophet called Israel a whore because she turned her back on her first love-God.

Dr. Wright is not disturbing to me because I can place his words in context.

The same as when Obama gave his statement. I understand the
    context.

i must make an addition to my former remarks. the president of the usa is the president of all people, regardless of party.
i do not presume to say i understand liberation theology. however, if it preaches hate and divisiveness, as the reverend wright often does, under the guise of religion, i don’t much want to learn more about it.
also, if someone sits, for 20 years, in a church that makes hateful comments about some of those people, that someone becomes suspect. furthermore, obama disowning wright today seems even more suspect. he seemed to refuse to throw wright under the bus until he himself was thrown under.
perhaps his motives are now purely political. we do not know the real obama. is he truly upset about the reverend or is he doing damage control?
we all have the same 5th amendment “right”, not only the reverend “wright”. for wright to imply that a criticism of him (and by that clever inference perhaps all criticism)is a criticism of the black church is further evidence of his ability to manipulate people with his articulate use of language. seemingly, he is denying others the right of free speech by casting aspersions upon the comments they have every right to express. his gift of gab did not begin yesterday. he has made his church more popular because of all the subleties in his messages, over the past many years, and they seem to excite his congregants. hopefully, his divisive messages will not incite them, in the future, setting back the progress of race relations in this country because of the tension and fear his comments arouse.
interestingly enough, obama seems to have mastered that same gift of oratory, often using inuendo and sarcasm to make his points, while criticizing others for doing the same thing. however, in his favor, he has been a gentleman and he never spews hate. perhaps, though, his failure to react quickly to the messages of hate is making it more difficult for some of us to believe in him. the one thing about hillary is that she has proven herself to be extremely capable and level headed regardless of the circumstances.
