This cover is way dramatic.  Almost too dramatic.

Isn’t The Hills a reality TV show?

I’m not sure at this point that the reader is even that sympathetic to Lauren.

Do you?

If you watch the show (which, sadly, I have to admit that I do) I don’t find Lauren that likeable this season.

At this point in time, this is a VERY RISKY COVER for Janice Min’s Us Weekly.

The Hills is a very narrow topic (if you don’t watch the show – you won’t buy this issue.)

In other news, there’s “Mariah’s Shocking Wedding.”  Thanks, I know that already.

And look — it’s Jamie Lynn’s baby shower and Jamie Lynn is holding a baby.  I believe Us is trying to “visually” trick the reader to believe that Jamie Lynn already had the baby.

Bottom Line: It’s not a question of low sales, it’s how low can you go Us Weekly?
