ANOTHER BRITNEY SPEARS’ WEIGHT LOSS COVER!
Pasetsky’s Cover Critique
Can you believe there’s yet another Britney weight-loss cover. Click here to see the Britney Spears’ diet covers from Star Magazine and click here to see the version from OK Magazine.
Will the newsstand buyer be compelled to buy this one?
Nope!
On another note, it looks like Life & Style is experimenting with a new design for its cover with the “style” bar covering up the bottom of the Britney photo.
Looks nice - but covering up Britney on the treadmill is A BIG MISTAKE.
I had to look closely to see that Britney was on the treadmill.
If you just saw Britney on the treadmill, the reader would actually think that Britney was speaking to the Life & Style while she was on the treadmill. (Please note, it is possible that the bottom of the picture is cut-off, but if that was the case the photo could have been blown-up. Or the creative director could have lowered Britney a tad.)
Let’s talk about the style bar. There are four items with prices. Does the reader really need to be told what each item is, e.g. sunglasses? Instead, I’d rather see a description or a benefit of the product.
And then there’s the insets.
Mariah Carey is “Head over Heals in Love.” I guess Life & Style couldn’t confirm that Mariah was married. This appears to be a safe line that covers L&S’ ass in case the Mariah marriage story is was fake.
Brad and Angelina are in France for the birth. Thanks I knew that! And that picture looks ridiculous. Why are they waving?
And Life & Style delivers the “Truth about the Sex Tape Rumors.” Did someone find out that US Weekly was doing a cover on the Hills?
Bottom Line: The reader isn’t dumb and won’t buy a third Britney Spears’ diet cover! In this case, Life & Style is underestimating the intelligence of the newsstand buyer!
