REBUILDING TOM CRUISE’S REPUTATION: MISSION POSSIBLE?

(Image Via Splash)

Yes, that’s Tom Cruise - The Tom Cruise - bowing down and handing over the MTV Movie Awards’ Generation Award to Adam Sandler - yes - star of such greats as Little Nicky, Waterboy and I Now Pronounce You Chuck And Larry.

Did anyone find this sad, confusing or just plain disturbing?

I did, but it doesn’t take much to figure out why Tom Cruise lowered himself (literally) to this level.

MTV is owned by Viacom, which also owns Paramount Studios. Ahh! Now it makes sense. Sumner Redstone owns both of these companies and Tom has been seen recently trying to make amends with Sumner.

My guess is that this call came from the top. How else would you get Tom Cruise to make such an embarrassing presentation?

Don’t get me wrong. This isn’t totally bad for Tom. Like his Oprah appearance, it made him look human and his appearance at this show connects with young viewers.

Did it work?
