JESSICA SIMPSON VS. CARRIE UNDERWOOD
Pasetsky’s Cover Critique
I smell trouble.
And it’s not between Jessica and Tony, or even Jessica and Carrie Underwood.
I smell trouble at In Touch.
Why?
This cover falls flat.
Sure, you have two hot blonds fighting over a guy. Or so it seems.
But the dek is really bad. “Tony hasn’t given up on his ex Carrie Underwood.”
This doesn’t say he’s calling her, seeing her or even bumping in to her. It’s basically saying he’s thinking of her. Who doesn’t think about his or her ex?
On a positive note, the insets are all very strong.
In fact, the Angie story would have been a strong cover.
And congrats to the In Touch photo department for finding that pic of Clay with a baby. Some buyers will fall for the old “oh that must be his new baby picture” trick.
Bottom Line: Not good.
