LIFE & STYLE’S ANGELINA’S BIRTH EXCLUSIVE: WHAT’S EXCLUSIVE?
Pasetsky’s Cover Critique
How does Life & Style call this an exclusive?
Did someone forget to send them the memo that Angie’s been pregnant for about 8 1/2 months?
Ok - joking.
This is a well-timed cover for Life & Style. As I predicted earlier this week - and this prediction is right on - one of the weeklies would develop this type of cover at this moment in time.
Why? Angie’s about to give birth any day and the magazine that publishes this type of cover could win big on the newsstand because buyers will think that it’s about the actual birth.
One problem with this cover even if Angie gives birth - is the box that states “the latest info.”
This statement automatically makes the cover feel old. It looks like the Life & Style team was trying to fill space but it kills the cover.
If you read, “Details about the delivery” first, you think that Angie gave birth. And this would have made the Life & Style cover stronger.
Moving on to the sidebar.
It’s a DESIGN DISASTER.
From white type to pink type to blue type - ugh!
The Britney/Kevin cut and paste job is awful.
One last note. I also predicted the TomKat story as a cover story. On Life & Style, it made it as the bottom right inset.
Bottom Line: The only way this cover comes close to rate base is if Angie gives birth. Why? Stay-tuned.
