GLOBE MAKES AN OLD STORY NEW
Pasetsky’s Cover Critique
Does that photo of Barack Obama being held by his mom look familiar.
It should – especially if you are addicted to CoverAwards like I am. (Oh wait, I write this blog – so I should be.)
Anyhow, click here to see it as it appeared recently on Time Magazine.
The big question is whether or not that is a bad thing?
The answer is NO!
It’s a good thing.
Most likely Globe readers didn’t pick up that issue of Time magazine so they will feel like this is a new story.
And the timing is somewhat good considering Barack just won the nomination.
It’s also a very emotional cover line – “Abandoned by his own mother!”
How does one not feel sympathetic towards Barack after seeing this cover?
Bottom Line: If Globe had that shiny paper, it would be beating the other weeklies hands down.
