DON’T CRY FOR JAY LENO
NBC is getting closer and closer to replacing Jay Leno with Conan O’Brien.
This will either be the biggest f&*k&p in history or pure genius by Jeff Zucker.
Only time will tell.
The Hollywood Reporter runs down a list of options for Jay Leno - who pretty much can do whatever he wants:
- ABC - Take the 11:30 slot and push back Jimmy Kimmel. That may piss off Kimmel and make him move to Fox
- Fox - Launch a late-night show on Fox, which has had little success in this arena, e.g. Joan Rivers and Chevy Chase.
- Syndication - Launch a show that goes into syndication similar to how the Arsenio Hall Show was handled in the 90s.
- NBC - Leno could basically have a show any other time of day - but they’ll have to pay him big time.
- CBS - Replace Letterman in 2010 after Dave’s contract is up.
- CNN - Do I hear another contender for Larry King’s spot?
- Retire
Either way, Jay will be fine. Not so sure about NBC though.
