US Weekly’s web site describes Madonna and Guy Ritchie as “tense”
While People’s web site describe their dinner as “romantic.”
What’s going on here?
Well, Janice Min and company have a lot riding on this story. The magazine proclaimed “It’s Over!” on its cover this week so it’s not surprising that their coverage is slanted towards the relationship being on the rocks.
If this relationship is not over, could this impact the credibility of Us Weekly and possibly impact Jann Wenner’s reported efforts to sell the magazine to Conde Nast?
On the other hand, Larry Hackett & People magazine received the official confirmation from Madonna’s rep Liz Rosenberg that everything is ok. And on its cover this week, the mag simply asks “Is it Over?” - a much less definitive statement on the relationship. As a result, expect positive coverage on Madge and Guy from People.
