ALL-STAR PARADE TAKES OVER NEW YORK CITY

Major League Baseball’s 79th All-Star game has grown outside of the hallowed walls of Yankee Stadium and taken over parts of New York City.
On Friday I saw batting cages and carnival-like games take over streets around Grand Central Station, and parents teaching their sons and daughters batting techniques.
Today from noon to 3 p.m. there is an All-Star parade on 6th Avenue with dozens of current and former MLB stars. Over a million people are expected to attend the event and tonight’s game is expected to draw large numbers as well.
New York celebrates bigger and better than anywhere in the world, so if baseball is looking get back its winning image with fans, I suggest they schedule the All-Star Game in New York every year.
Perhaps the new Shea Stadium, Citi Field, in 2009?

Yes, NYC sure knows how to make heroes of sports figures with these parades, but why not reserve the parades for those who truly deserve them, like our brave men and women serving our country? I’m not against the games and activities, just the glorification of men (many with poor character) that can play sports well.
