NEW YORKER BARACK OBAMA COVER: Race or Terrorism?
The following post is from CoverAwards’ new intern Michael Canterino. Welcome aboard!
While I don’t approve of this sort of cover by any means, I cannot say that I am shocked to actually see it. In my opinion, the racial implications that are put forth in this cover relate more to race rather than terrorism.
We obviously know that Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are not terrorists, but the caricatures of them giving fist-pounds, with Michelle donning an over-the-top wig seem to be pushing this presidential race into a black vs. white arena.
