SPORTS ILLUSTRATED MICHAEL PHELPS COVER: Does it Compete with Men's Journal?

We are so close to the beginning of the Olympics (08-08-08) and CoverAwards is your first stop for Olympic Magazine coverage.

Today – Sports Illustrated released its hot Michael Phelps cover.

Do like this Olympic swimming cover or Men’s Journal better?

On another note, Sheryl Crow is showing her support for this summer’s Olympic athletes with a new song, and PEOPLE.com has a first look at the video Crow shot for the track on her farm outside of Nashville.

    Scary looking face

on the sports illustrated cover he looks focussed and threatening. he seems ready to win. on the mens journal cover both guys look happy and friendly although michael seems to be pictured as the one with the upper hand, possibly the winner, since he has his elbow on ryan’s shoulder. (i just read the blurb beneath the picture and realize that represents their relationship very well).
i guess i prefer the happier picture of two friends competing to the scarier one of a fierce competitor. it depends on the msssage that is being sent, comraderie or competition.

He looks tense and perhaps focussed, but i prefer a smiling, confident look. I haven’t seen the other cover, and I’m having difficulty bringing it up.
