The advertising industry is pulling back from green-themed marketing, reports the NY Times, because they are concerned that consumers are getting sick of the “green trend.”
Magazine sales for green-themed issues have been low, with Time’s Earth Day issue the newsweekly’s third-lowest-selling issue of 2008, according to ABC Rapid Report. Elle’s May issue sold only 275,000 copies, versus the title’s average of 328,500. Discover’s green issue only sold 86,000 newsstand copies, compared to an average of 117,000.
