OK Magazine Ends Its Strong Run with Jamie Lynn Spears' Cover
OK! Magazine bought its way to a successful summer run with baby photos week after week (not that there is anything wrong with that), including:
Matthew McConaughey’s son Levi
So, the magazine was faced with a tough task this week – with no celebrity giving birth this week – what were they to do?
Solution: Go for the other most popular topic in the celebrity weekly category!
Weddings!
OK! features Jamie Lynn Spears with the line “Race to the Altar.” Insets include the always popular wedding candidates Jen Aniston and Jessica Simpson.
Unlike In Touch and Globe, I had absolutely no desire to open the magazine to find out the “romantic details.” And that doesn’t bode well for OK! on the newsstand.
On another note, Britney Spears’ body is the inset – which would have been a much stronger cover story than this whole “race to the altar” thing.
Bottom Line: The competition on the newsstand this week is WEAK. So, it might end of doing quite well. Everything in life has to be put in context.
