THE WORST CELEBRITY WEEKLIES OF THE WEEK ARE…

Why?

I suggest you read my original critiques, which are all linked above.

Plus, I would ask you to keep this in mind when you read the critiques.

I look at each cover from the readers’ perspective.

I think about what the average female buyer will think when she goes to the newsstand and glances at the latest issues.

This point of view is one that I wasn’t obviously born with.

It’s one that I learned – and I have to admit – learned from the best in the business.

I take great pride in looking at the covers and providing you with the readers’ perspective. (The reaction they get when they first see the cover. I try not to look inside because many readers will simply buy the magazine based on the cover.)

Sometimes, these critiques may appear to be harsh – but it is simply about the product – not about any person or group of people that are developing the product.

As many of you know, I sat in the same position and have nothing but the greatest level of respect and admiration for what they continue to do on a weekly basis. It’s one of the most grueling positions in the business.

I wish that every week we’d see great covers that the readers will want to buy and that the celebrity category gets back to growing and thriving.

In particular, this week was not a strong week for the category. Hopefully, we’ll see better covers next week.

With the People magazine Brad & Angie twins’ cover, all of the editors will be put to the test.

I can’t wait to see what they pull out of their hats.

Oh, and the best cover of the week goes to…
