SECURITY IS A TOP PRIORITY FOR OLYMPICS
Nothing is more important for the Olympics than the safety of its athletes and spectators. So it came as no surprise that the Chinese government put security as their top priority for the Beijing games.
According to the New York Times, the Chinese are warning that terrorism is a “constant threat,” particularly from Muslim separatist groups in the Xinjiang region of western China.
Some human rights activists claim that the Chinese are using this “constant threat” as a political tactic against ethnic minority groups who dominate the Communist Party leadership.
