Is a Smaller Rolling Stone Better? Jann Wenner Says YES!

Would Barack Obama look as God-like on the new size of Rolling Stone? Probably not!

Well, lucky for him this cover came out before October 17th when Rolling Stone is shrinking to a standard magazine size.

Rolling Stone will also switch to heavier, glossy paper and sleeker page designs.

According to reports, this is not a cost-cutting measure and Wenner is stating that Rolling Stone is profitable. However, this year, like most magazines, it’s facing a tough advertising climate.

Wenner also believes this will help boost newsstand sales since the magazine will be able to fit in traditional pockets.

But, let’s look beyond the spin.

Wenner is saving a ton of money by downsizing Rolling Stone. In the end, the company will never admit that because it “looks bad.” But, it is what is.

According to Jann Wenner, “We’ve evolved. But the core tradition, the mission, remains the same.”
