Rhonda Mac: I Get Through It Because I Know He's in a Better Place Now

Rhonda, wife of comedian Bernie Mac who passed away August 9. from complications due to pneumonia, is devastated. 

She describes her feelings to People as coming “comes in waves,” adding she still feels her husband’s presence and listens to their song. “I was singing it and a chill just came over me and I knew it was him,” she said. “I get through because I know he’s in a better place now.”

The couple met when Rhonda was just 16 and Bernie was 17.  They had their first kiss on Valentine’s Day and were married in 1977. 

The memorial service will be held this Saturday, Aug. 16 at noon at the House of Hope in Chicago.
