While filming Billy Wilder’s Seven Year Itch, Marilyn Monroe stood atop a NYC subway grating with her white dress billowing above her waist, she was already established as the era’s most potent sex symbol.

What you may have not known is that the photographs had to be re-shot under controlled studio conditions (because the crowd noise made the photos unusable.)
