Tween stars are taking over! Everywhere you turn the Jonas Brothers are doing their cute boy band thing or Miley Cyrus is morphing into a rock star from Hannah Montana.
So who’s the biggest star when it comes to dollar signs?
In the Miley-JoBro monetary face off, Miley comes out in the lead. The band’s reported earnings for the past year added up to around $12 million, while Miley makes in the billions.
But long term predictions have the boys growing in value, while Miley’s brand may be harder to sustain.
Bob Lefsetz of the Lefsetz Letter, a music industry newsletter, tells Portfolio that the Jonas Brothers as “a more authentic, and therefore more sustainable, phenomenon,” than Miley. The group might expect “a longer sales arc with less high peaks.”
Cory Isaacson, a partner at Walton Isaacon, seems to agree that JoBro will only grow in worth. “They understand how to take care of their partners.”
With the fall-out from Miley’s Vanity Fair photo scandal and new semi-nude images of the tween sensation leaking every day, her brand may be getting soured.
