In Touch is floating a test issue this week.

What do I mean you ask?

Well, if this issue does well I expect to see a ton of drama covers from In Touch (and sister title Life & Style) over the next few months.

If it doesn’t do well, Brad and Angelina will go back to leading a happy life.

Let’s take a closer look at this cover.

The main line “Storms Out” is strong. It’s a classic celebrity weekly line and it usually works.

However…

And I’ve said this before, the reader LOVES Brad Pitt. And, I’m not so sure that they want to see him running out on Angie “only weeks after the birth of the twins.”

It makes him look like a total cad.

While this story could be true, it’s not the right angle to use for the cover.

On another note, In Touch throws in a bit of tabloid flair with the extra line “The police were called to the house.” My immediate thought is that some type of domestic dispute occurred. Is that what they wanted the reader to think? Hmmm.

Finally, notice that In Touch has strategically placed Jen on the top right because the magazine believes having all three of these characters will help its overall “package.”

Bottom line: Drama between Brad & Angie is usually a good thing on the newsstand.
