Prior to acquiring American Media, Inc. in 1999, Pecker was President and Chief Executive Officer of Hachette Filipacchi Magazines.

Previously, he had served as Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for Hachette Magazines, Inc.

What inspired you to become a publisher?

“I was always a big reader of magazines, everything from Car and Driver to the National Enquirer. And although I began my career in finance,  I always knew I wanted to be involved in all aspects of the business side of publishing,” admits Pecker.

What are your future plans for American Media’s portfolio?

“We are actively expanding the digital side of our business, extending our brands internationally and pursuing broadcast opportunities,” says Pecker. “By focusing on two of the hottest markets, celebrity and health & fitness, we’re in a very good position to enjoy future growth in all mediums.”

What is one thing your employees/publishing industry would be surprised to learn about you?

That I once shaved my mustache, albeit very briefly.
