It’s very rare that I will offer such effusive praise right off the bat.
But, this story is genius.
Did anyone notice how low-key Oprah Winfrey was at last week’s Democratic National Convention?
Well, today Globe Magazine presents a theory that Oprah is in a feud with Michelle Obama.
This is smart for several reasons:
- It picks up on the simple observation that Oprah was MIA at the DNC. (Yeah, she was quoted as crying but her visibility was VERY LOW.)
- Many more people love Oprah than they do Michelle – which means Globe gets where their reader is at
- It offers readers a strong political story – but it doesn’t feel political
- It’s a strong alternative to the Sarah Palin story, which dominates the category this week
Bottom Line: Well done!
