Us Weekly's Scandalous Sarah Palin's Cover: Maybe Being the Governor of Alaska Wasn't so Bad?

Yesterday, CoverAwards shared with you exclusively OK! Magazine’s double cover featuring Sarah Palin and Barack Obama.
Today we see yet another celebrity weekly covering the biggest story of the week – Sarah Palins and her world of drama.
Unlike OK! Magazine, Us Weekly pulls NO punches.
She gets the full celebrity weekly carwash.
In fact – it’s one of those expensive car washes – like the deluxe?!? Look at the main line.
Babies, Lies and Scandal. That pretty much sums it up.
Plus – Us does a good job in highlighting the major points of interest in the upper right dek, e.g. daughter’s pregnancy, controversy over firing her sister’s ex-husband, and the mag even promises more surprises!
Do you think Sarah’s starting to rethink this whole VP thing?
History?
When is the last time we’ve seen two celebrity weeklies featuring a political cover during the same week?
Keep in mind, there will be at least one more coming out today – possibly two!
The Right Move?
The editors of the magazines are heading in the right direction by focusing on this type of story. Too many times, we see the magazine’s retreading the OLD Brangelina stories — and unfortunately newsstand sales have suffered because of overall reader fatigue with that type of topic.
This approach of jumping on the HOT story is the way to go. We’ll just have to see if the mags can switch gears and handle covering these types of stories in a respectable way.
On a totally different note, the newsweeklies should watch and learn.
Newsstand buyers would much rather buy either of these magazine’s than say this BORING cover of Newsweek?
Don’t you think.
Bottom Line: Scandal and huge story will sell big for Us Weekly
