SURPRISE? Palin's Spending as Alaska Governor Under Scrutiny

A report from the Washington Post is claiming that Gov. Sarah Palin has billed Alaskan taxpayers for over 300 nights that she spent in her own home, charging her per diem allowance (put in place to cover certain expenses while she is traveling on state business.)

After Palin’s speech at the Republican National Convention, in which she commented on how she “got rid of a few things in the governor’s office that [she] didn’t believe [that] citizens should have to pay for,” her record has been under close scrutiny.

A gubernatorial spokesperson said Monday that Palin’s expenses are not unusual and that the Palin family could have claimed per diem expenses for each child, but has never done so.
