While there have been several Obama family covers, this is the first full cover featuring the entire McCain family.
The photo was taken in a hotel room during the RNC’s Minneapolis convention.
According to managing editor Larrry Hackett on Larry King last night, he indicated that these types of political covers have continued to do well because of the public’s interest in this election.

The ratings for McCain’s acceptance speech (as much as it put me to sleep) surpassed every other speech made during the conventions.
The ability for People Magazine and Larry Hackett to orchestrate this type of photo shoot demonstrates the continuous clout that the magazine carries, and why the rest of the category can only look up at People’s ongoing surge on the newsstand.
Bottom Line: This intense public interest in Election 2008 will fuel another big week for People Magazine on the newsstand.
