OK delivers a strong cover by using a couple of smart tricks with this Britney Spears’ cover.
One of them is the photo.
It’s Britney sitting down looking straight at the camera. While it’s a picture of her at the VMAs, it can easily be construed as a sit-down interview with OK! Magazine.
And, many newsstand buyers will believe this is an actually full-blown interview.
Another trick is the “Britney Exclusive” box. Again, the newsstand buyer will think it’s an interview — but OK! isn’t really promising an interview.
The dek on this cover is strong and hits ALL the main Britney issues – from her mom’s book and her VMA success to fighting for her boys and her new body. It’s what everybody wants to read about when it comes to Britney.
As luck would have it for OK! Magazine, it is the only weekly to feature Britney Spears as a MAIN cover image this week.
Most importantly, it’s the third cover topic this week I predicted correctly.
Bottom Line: Everybody’s talking about Britney, which gives OK! a great shot on the newsstand this week.
