Jill Greenberg Admits to Manipulating McCain Into Taking Bad Photos For Atlantic Cover

Controversial celebrity photographer Jill Greenberg, deliberately took a series of unflattering shots of  John McCain for the current cover of The Atlantic.

Greenberg bragged about the shots on her blog and boasted to Photo District News that she submitted photos of the Arizona senator to the mag while barely airbrushing them, reports the NY Post.

“I left his eyes red and his skin looking bad,” she said. She also admited to having Mccain stand over a strobelight and using other lighting to make him look bad.

The Atlantic opted to use a more straightforward portrait saying, “We stand by the picture we are running on our cover.  We feel it’s a respectful portrait. We hope we’ll be judged by that picture.”

As for Greenberg’s lack of professionalism, Atlantic editor James Bennet says, “We feel totally blind-sided,” he said. “Her behavior is outrageous.”

Greenberg has placed the photoshopped images on her site, which can be viewed here.
