CoverAwards' Women's Venture Fund Special: Interview With Gretchen Bonaduce

Gretchen Bonaduce is a Los Angeles based singer and she sang at last night’s  The Women’s Venture Fund Defining Moments Gala.

CoverAwards spoke with Ms. Bonaduce exclusively:

What is the best advice you can give to female entrepreneurs/executives?

“I’ve learned so much from my clothing, jewelry and perfume lines. First and foremost, don’t give up. If you have a passion for something and you know there is a market – do not give up. Keep expenses low, don’t go crazy, and don’t get in over your head. Baby steps are important, you have to crawl before you walk.”

What are your thoughts on the non-profit The Women’s Venture Fund?

“The Women’s Venture Fund is such a wonderful organization. To find a non-profit that will loan money to women who lack capital to start a business is amazing. It’s great to be involved in helping to raise the funding for these women.”

What books/reading material would you recommend for up and coming female executives/entrepreneurs?

“I would recommend the biographies of any successful women, as well as anything by Dorothy Parker. I’m a huge fan of hers; she is funny and has done amazing things with her writing ability.”

What makes the WVF event significant?

“It’s significant to me because one of my best friends was instrumental in putting it together! It’s a great way to support her, as well as the organization and the female race. Women can do anything that men can, and have an amazing ability to remain calm and collected in the most challenging situations. I am a huge supporter of anything out there that furthers the position of women in the world.”

On another note, do you have a point of view on the coverage of the female candidates in this year’s political election? Has it been fair?

“I think it’s great that women have been so involved and have made so much progress. There are so many people who support women and freedom. I was at the Republican campaign fundraiser in LA last week – I am a huge supporter of McCain and Palin. Sarah Palin is not afraid to stand up for her beliefs and her country; any woman who can raise five children can run the country.”
