COVER CRITIQUE: In Touch Weekly Asks Have Brad & Angelina Split?
To purchase the new issue of In Touch Weekly, visit Universal News here.
Brad and Angelina recently issued a statement that they were still together and have not split.
In Touch jumped on the statement and made it the full cover for this week’s issue - a wise move.
When Brad & Angie made the statement last week, I couldn’t stop wondering why they did that.
The couple has repeatedly said that they ignore the “tabloid” press.
Plus, Angie only reads the NY Times?
So why did they issue the statement.
Perhaps, they are having problems?
What would have made this cover stronger?
The main line is a question - which to me automatically means the magazine doesn’t have the answer.
I would have used the line SPLIT accompanied by the word controversy (very small) under the word SPLIT.
The first two bullet points - Angie’s ultimatum and Brad’s in Paris - are throwaways.
The last point is the big one and I would have built on that detail. Everybody is saying they split - but they are denying it. I’d even use the official statement on the cover.
Bottom Line: Overall a strong cover for In Touch.
