Why Ellen Pompeo Wore a Black Dress by Yves Saint Laurent to her Wedding

The unusual wedding outfit, she explains in the new issue of Allure, was chosen partly to disorient the paparazzi (the fact that Pompeo and her husband Chris Ivery were married didn’t leak out until a family member blabbed to the press a few days later) and partly because she didn’t feel she needed a princess moment on her wedding day:

“I get to dress up all the time,” says Pompeo.  “I completely understand women wanting a wedding, because most people don’t get to dress up in gorgeous dresses and have their hair and makeup done.  I, however, am fortunate enough that I get to put on beautiful dresses and makeup and jewels all the time.”
