Getting old in Hollywood is tough.
And it’s going to be even tougher for Jen Aniston.
The above In Touch magazine cover is Exhibit A.
She’s quickly approaching the big 40 and she can expect to see many more of these types of features on her as she tries to age gracefully.
But the big question is whether or not the reader will buy this cover at the newsstand?
And the answer is yes. I predict the sales will be higher than In Touch Weekly’s current average sales.
Why?
It’s a strong picture. You see Jen’s almost washboard abs. Her face looks tense.
Plus, the dek is sympathetic and NOT MEAN. It says “Stars give in to the pressure to look perfect.” That’s nice to see with this type of story. And, the editors of In Touch are showing that they understand the reader still LOVES Jen Aniston.
Personally, I would have lost the Ashlee inset especially since she’s pregnant.
I would have also made the line “Friends Say That” so small that you could not even read it. It’s that type of line that covers you legally, but makes the reader have doubts about the story.
And - WHO ARE THOSE FRIENDS? If you’re the type of friend that tells a national weekly magazine that I had lipo, we are no longer friends. (FYI - I have not had lipo. I swear!)
Bottom line: A good escape cover by In Touch will equal ok sales.
