O.J. Simpson Sentenced To At Least 17 1/2 Years in Prison: Eligible for Parole After 9 Years
It was a riveting moment in Las Vegas as O.J. Simpson was sentenced to at least 17 1/2 years in prison and eligible for parole after 9 years.
This is a result of O.J. Simpson being found guilty on 12 charges, including armed robbery and kidnapping over sports memorabilia.
O.J. Simpson spoke before the sentencing:
“I stand before you today sorry, somewhat confused” said O.J. Simpson to the Judge Jackie Glass in Las Vegas.
He spoke of how often he came to Las Vegas and how he was simply trying to retrieve his personal property.
He appeared sorry – but I use the word ‘appeared’ loosely.
Indeed, his performance didn’t help his cause.
The judge did not allow O.J. Simpson out on bail pending his appeal.
It’s important to note that the original October 3rd guilty verdict came 13 years to the day after a Los Angeles jury acquitted Simpson of killing his former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ronald Goldman.
So, today, O.J. Simpson will finally head to jail – where he belongs.
In addition to O.J. Simpson being sentenced, C.J. Stewart who helped with the robbery was also sent to prison.
