US: Janice Min Attempts Comeback Week with Jennifer Lopez Marriage Crisis Cover
As I predicted, last week’s cover of Us Weekly could not have done well on the newsstand.
It featured Candice (I swear I can’t remember her last name – oh yeah it’s) Cameron and how she lost weight.
This week Janice, brings back an old tabloid favorite – J. Lo. How will it do?
Better than last week for Us Weekly but still not so good.
Why?
Nobody cares about J. Lo’s marriage to Marc Anthony. I swear. If she announced she was getting divorced, it may get a big inset – but many mags would simply not make it a full cover.
At the same time, the magazines this week are dominated by Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie giving Janice Min some reason for hope.
The photo packaging may even attract compulsive buyers at the newsstand, e.g. J. Lo without her ring and Marc Anthony with Eva Longoria’s hand on his lap.
(Does anybody really think Marc Anthony is cheating with Eva Longoria who is married to Tony Parker? I don’t think so.)
And, on the ring front. That is by no means a firm conclusion that J. Lo’s marriage is on the rocks. There are so many times a star has not worn her/his ring. Maybe she’s bloated? Or, it didn’t go with her stunning outfit?
Bottom Line: Us made this the ONLY story on its cover, which meant it believed it had a big story or it was trying to make this a bigger story than it is. The answer is TRYING.
