Esquire’s eighth annual Meaning of Life issue coincides with a historic transition in Washington, at a time when America is still trying to figure out what it learned about itself during an epic presidential campaign, according to Esquire.
The magazine amassed 2,682 cumulative years of wisdom from prominent Americans and from regular folks—from the East Coast and the West, from the heartland, from the North, the South, and the Rockies, from real America and fake America, even from up there in Wasilla—about war, peace, love, hate, sex, death, God, kids, the past, the future, and, of course, barbecue.
Esquire conducted fifty interviews, one person from each state. Clint Eastwood is on the cover and represents the state of California.
