In fact, the magazine’s spokesperson actually confirmed that the two covers use the same photo and that the credit inside the new issue acknowledges that Annie Leibovitz took the portrait of Barack Obama in 2007.
Bottom line.
It’s not a big deal at all.
This practice of using the same photo is conducted all the time.
And, if it’s a good photo, who cares?
The average newsstand buyer won’t be able to tell the difference and this issue will sell quite well.
