OK! Magazine Taps Katie Caperton as Editor in Chief
OK! Magazine tapped OK! Magazine veteran Katie Caperton as its next Editor in Chief.
Katie has been with the magazine since its inception in 2005 and will now oversee day-to-day operations of the U.S. title. Caperton, who was previously the magazine’s Executive Editor, will report to Editorial Director, Sarah Ivens.
Today’s news follows a turbulent period for the magazine. OK! had brought in Kent Brownridge as the magazine’s GM and Susan Toepfer as the Editor in Chief in 2008. Both were let go as well as several top editorial execs in early 2009.
Today’s move marks a change in direction and a vote of confidence for the team in place.
“I’ve been dedicated to OK! since the day it launched, and I’m excited for the new challenge,” said Caperton. “Everyone here — ownership, editorial and advertising — is committed to the success of this magazine and I look forward to making sure our brand sees continued growth.”
“Katie’s been an integral part of the senior leadership at OK! for some time now and a real driving factor in our success,” added Ivens. “I’m thrilled to see her reach this point and feel like we needed someone in charge that has proven she can do it. She’s also someone that the staff loves and respects.”
Since 2005, Caperton has held the positions of Executive Editor, Deputy Editor and Editorial Manager.
“My team is behind Katie 100%,” said OK! Magazine Publisher, Lori Burgess. “As a result of her efforts, our two sides of the business are truly in-step with one another, and I see more great synergy on the horizon.”
