OK! Biggest Loser's Diet: Helen Phillips and Tara Costa in Dresses!
OK! Magazine managed to publish its latest issue featuring The Biggest Loser Diets without an editor in chief.
As CoverAwards reported earlier this week, Katie Caperton is no longer with the magazine. Who is now at the top of the masthead?
Sharing the top seat appears to be Sarah “Kentucky” Ivens and Jason Oliver Nixon aka “the consultant” who now appears as the magazine’s creative director.
(Are you confused by what’s happening at OK? You’re not alone!)
Back to the cover!
This week we learn how the Biggest Loser Winner, Helen Phillips, and runner-up Tara Costa, lost the weight.
Tara lost a whopping 155 lbs while Helen lost 140 lbs.
It’s so close to summer so…
OK! Magazine has a good shot this week.
Why?
It’s the only diet cover and who doesn’t want to lose weight at this time of year.
Plus, OK!’s last Biggest Loser cover featuring these same two stars did quite well. There’s no shame in OK!’s game – so, of course, they’re going for it again.
However, there are striking differences with this latest Biggest Loser cover. The women are dressed in evening gowns and the color combination is red and gold. This is an obvious attempt by the magazine to appear more upscale or like “Elle Weekly” as CoverAwards reported exclusively.
In addition, take a look at OK!’s new logo. Look familiar? Well, it should because it looks very similar to Us Weekly’s logo. I’m sure Wenner Media will not be happy to see that!
A minus for this diet cover is the lack of before pictures. It makes absolutely no sense why a magazine would leave before pics off when they’re doing a diet cover. I understand that OK! is trying to be more upscale – but this type of move will cost them some sales at the newsstand because the before pics are always a strong visual representation of a diet cover.
Bottom Line: Diet + OMG I have to wear a bathing suit = a good week for OK!
One Response to “OK! Biggest Loser's Diet: Helen Phillips and Tara Costa in Dresses!”

I used to see her at the NY Health and Racquet Club training with this European trainer. She lost tons of weight with her and she learned how to run and use a heart rate monitor because of her previous trainer. I know because I was really impressed with her results and I spoke to Tara a couple of times in the locker room! She is a fake and it’s sad that so many of you are treating her as if she is GOD. The trainer she had before got her into great shape but Tara just needed more attention so she went ahead and built her fame “purposely” by getting fat. Just to get on the Biggest loser. Shame on you, Tara.
