“Sarah Palin is reportedly sick of politics,” according to NBC News. In addition, Palin has told her largest backers they are free to pick another candidate for the 2012 Presidential election.  Stay tuned for further developments.

Apparently, Jennifer Aniston is a whiz in the kitchen and wants to open a restaurant. Yeah, we didn’t see that one coming either.

No details have been released, but sources close to the actress say she loves cooking. In fact, she can “cook anything from Mexican meals to Italian food to cakes.”

Toby Maguire and wife Jennifer Meyer named their newborn son Otis Tobias Maguire. Otis was born on May 8th. The couple also have a daughter, Ruby.

Five-time champion Roger Federer reached his seventh straight Wimbledon final Friday and will face Andy Roddick for a chance at a record 15th Grand Slam title, according to reports. If Federer wins Sunday, he will be the third player to win six or more Wimbledon titles.

Did Michael Jackson’s family have insurance in case of a possible drug overdose? AEG, the company promoting Jackson’s London concerts, reportedly had a Lloyd’s of London death insurance policy. What’s curious is the policy didn’t cover death by natural causes.

In a truly shocking July 4th holiday weekend development, Gov. Sarah Palin will resign her office in a few weeks, she said during a news conference at her Wasilla home Friday morning.

Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the Governor’s Picnic at Pioneer Park in Fairbanks on Saturday, July 25, Palin said.

There was no immediate word as to why she will resign.

Why now?

As I mentioned earlier, this announcement’s timing is beyond bizarre.  Palin is making her resignation the day before July 4th, when much of the nation’s media is on vacation or covering the Michael Jackson story.

In addition, Palin provided no clear explanation as to why she is resigning - except that she is making sure that there is a smooth transition?!?

Many questions will and should be asked to Gov. Palin to find out why she made this decision.

DEBBIE ROWE UPDATE: Rowe’s attorney, Eric M. George, told reporters during a press conference Thursday that his client still hasn’t made up her mind concerning whether she will fight for the custody of Prince and Paris.

JACKSON DEBT UPDATE: People.com is estimating that Michael Jackson is $500 million in debt. “The guy had so much anxiety about [the concerts], but he had debts and his home was going into foreclosure. He had to do it,” says a source. However, all of his merchandise and memorobilia should be very profitable if his executors play their cards right.

It’s rumored Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are on the way out. Jessica’s a bit—how do we say this—needy. They’ve hit a really rocky spot, according to the New York Daily News:

“Justin had to leave dinner once because Jessica was calling him incessantly. They got into a huge screaming match over the phone about how she’s always ‘checking up’ on him. Justin is partying in London right now. Jessica wanted to go with him, but he wasn’t having it. He just wanted to get away with the guys. He needed his space from her.”
