Barack Obama’s campaign raised a record breaking $10 million last night at a series of events last night in Hollywood and Los Angeles.

The events cost $2,500 each per-person and included a steak dinner.  Barbara Streisand and Ben Harper perfomred and audience members included Quincy Jones, Pierce Brosnan and Jamie Foxx. Leonardo DiCaprio, Jodie Foster, Tobey Maguire, Will Ferrell, Chris Rock, Larry David, Jamie Lee Curtis and Steven Spielberg were also in attendance.

It was a good end to the summer fundraising season for both candidates.

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama raised $66 million in August, a record for a presidential candidate.

Sarah Palin’s repeated attacks in Obama during the RNC have had a pretty positive effect for the Democratic candidate.  Obama has raised about $8 million from more than 130,000 donors and is on pace to raise $10 million more, reports Drudge.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama raised more than $51 million in July, according to reports, and the Democratic National Committee reported $27.7 million in donations last month, putting Obama in a strong position for the fall campaign.
