Rhonda, wife of comedian Bernie Mac who passed away August 9. from complications due to pneumonia, is devastated. 

She describes her feelings to People as coming “comes in waves,” adding she still feels her husband’s presence and listens to their song. “I was singing it and a chill just came over me and I knew it was him,” she said. “I get through because I know he’s in a better place now.”

Responding to dramatic rumors about the state of his health, “Bernie Mac is still alive and being treated in a Chicago hospital for pneumonia and is expected to make a full recovery,” his rep told People.

Yesterday, CoverAwards reported that Bernie Mac was hospitalized due to pneumonia.

Bernie Mac was hospitalized in Chicago for pneumonia, his rep tells PEOPLE.

“Mr. Mac is responding well to treatment and will be released soon [from a hospital in Chicago],” his rep says in a statement.
