The above 40th anniversary cover of New York Magazine features the same photo by Jay Maisel that appeared on the debut issue of New York, dated April 8, 1968.

The only difference, according to the magazine, is that on this 40th anniversary issue the Manhattan skyline is rendered in metallic silver, rather than in four colors.  Make the jump to see the original cover.

It didn’t get more dramatic than yesterday’s Wimbledon Tennis Championship, where Rafael Nadal broke Roger Federer’s streak of five consecutive Wimbledon titles.   The match took 4-hours and 58 minutes.

And there you see a jubilant Nadal on the cover of today’s New York Times.

And, yes I watched all of it.

Hottest cover in a long time goes to GQ with this incredible photo of Giselle Bundchen.

It’s tough being an editor of a celebrity weekly.

There’s a lot of pressure to deliver sales - especially in this marketplace.

Gas prices are soaring and consumers are less likely to spend money on things like celebrity weekly magazines.

And we’ll see that when ABC releases the numbers for the first half of 2008.

BTW - have you noticed that the celeb weeklies kinda forgot about the whole rapid reporting thing?

Anyhow - this cover of Life & Style disturbs me. Why?

TV Guide gave me a good laugh last night when I saw it on Perez Hilton.

I wonder why CoverAwards wasn’t sent an copy ahead of time? Hmmm.

BTW - I laughed even harder when I saw it up-close.
