NEWSPAPER AD REVENUE PLUMMETS!

BREAKING NEWS:  The newspaper industry saw its worst drop in advertising revenue in more than 50 years, reports Editor & Publisher.   According to new data released by the Newspaper Association of America, total print advertising revenue in 2007 plunged to 9.4 percent to $42 billion compared to 2006 — the most sever percent decline since the association started measuring advertising expenditures in 1950.  (Editor & Publisher)

“Traffic for newspaper Web sites soared in February but people were spending less time visiting,” reports Editor & Publisher. However, sites like the Politico saw time spent per person “more than double during the month to an average of 12 minutes.”
